在一些英語寫作中，我們為什麼不能直接陳述自己的觀點，而非要搞個讓步表達一下禮貌。並且，在英語文化中，英語本土人不是更傾向於直接清晰表達自己的觀點嗎？在這裡感到很困惑。
concession的例子：True we consider the
length, shape, size, or texture, but an object』s physical aspects are less
important than what it has done or can do to us—hurt us, surprise us anger us
or make us joyful. 先退一步，然後在拋出自己的觀點。

為了嚴謹，也為起到先發制人的作用：不等對方反駁，就已經在陳述自己觀點時把對方可能說的反對意見批駁了一遍。

I have never heard the word "concession" used to describe that part of a sentence. I guess you mean "concessive clause".

"Concession" means "to make an allowance" or "to make a compromise".

For example, "It was against the rules for her to go to such a late concert but her dad made a concession because it was on her birthday."

In English writing, concessive clauses are used to strengthen one"s argument. It may seem like it takes longer to get to the point, but actually the argument can sound stronger if the counterargument is presented first and then the argument is suggested as an alternative.

Occasionally, people also use it when they speak.

這叫欲擒故縱，先抑後揚，破立結合，等等等等。中文也長於此道。

比如，也許你說的有道理，但未必可行。
