看到「適合小朋友朗誦的詩歌」這個問題，我其實有點懵，幾乎沒咋接觸過，腦海中能想起的第一本書就是某一年糊裡糊塗買的一套書，是英國Thomas Nelson編著、天津人民出版社引進出版的《英國語文》。翻了幾頁之後就擱書架上積灰，剛剛想起後又翻出來瀏覽了幾頁：
辭彙量對剛學英語的中國孩子有一定的難度，我還從這首詩中學了purr這個詞兒。後來讓我覺得這套書尚有可取之處在於每課末尾列出的生詞表設計得比較好，與學校英語教材常見的編排方式不大一樣，可以幫助孩子學習單詞發音，額，就是自然拼讀法：
個人觀點：書中適合朗誦的篇章不多，大部分篇幅較長。但是這套書可以給有一定英語基礎的孩子作課外讀物，類似以前（不知道現在還有沒有）語文教材的課外讀本，培養閱讀興趣或增加辭彙量；書籍有聽力可以下載，也可以當作有聲讀物睡前聽聽。
在瀏覽器里輸入"poems for kids to recite"可以看到一些鏈接是介紹適合孩子朗誦的詩歌，點開後發現確實更簡潔、更有趣、更朗朗上口。
Robert Lee Brewer 是5個孩子的爹，他喜歡給孩子們讀點睡前讀書，根據他豐富的經驗總結了比較吸引孩子們的詩歌包括這三類：

要說膾炙人口，那當然是我自己寫的十四行詩《切爾西頌》。在虎撲有幾百個贊呢。上面有些樓里列出的英文詩，好是好，但你能從中國人里找出幾百個知道它並且說它好的？不容易吧。

首先想吐槽一下 ，很多人都推「you say that u like rain but you open..」並說是莎翁的作品，但那個時代你用的是thou，這首的風格也過於現代了吧，所以勸大家還是不要相互誤導了，除非你們說的莎翁是另一個人。

這首詩的題目雖為《論孩子》，實際卻是論父母之道的。
對很多父母來說，子女就像他們華麗的首飾、擁有的財產，甚至有待訓練的寵物，或實現他們未盡的夢想的途徑、自身的複製品，而非擁有獨立人格的獨立生命。很多父母喜歡干預子女的人生選擇，他們難以接受教育孩子最為重要的目標之一是「培養獨立人格」—讓他們長大，讓他們遠走。

這首詩歌的作者存在一些爭議，但一般傾向認為本詩為 Mary Elizabeth Frye於1932年所作。當時，有一名 德國猶太婦女Margaret Schwarzkopf 寄住在作者的家中。她的母親的德國身患重病，讓她十分擔心。不過，由於當時德國反猶氣氛弄些，人們警告她不要回德國。當她的母親去世後，她傷心欲絕，對作者說自己甚至連「站到母親墓前哭泣」的機會也沒有（「she never had the chance to stand by her mother"s grave and shed a tear」）。Frye深受此事觸動，從未寫過任何詩作的她在一個紙購物袋上寫下了這段詩。

葉芝對於她一見鍾情，而且一往情深，但她一直對他若即若離，始終拒絕他的追求。她在1903年嫁給了一個愛爾蘭軍官，在這段婚姻觸礁時，她依然不接受葉芝。
儘管從未得到她的愛情，葉芝對於她的感情終身不渝。這些無望的痛苦和不幸促使葉芝寫下很多有關她的詩歌：有時是激情的愛戀，有時是絕望的怨恨，更多的時候是愛和恨之間難以名狀的情感。
William Butler Yeats（葉芝，1865-1939），1923年諾貝爾文學獎得主，愛爾蘭詩人、劇作家。葉芝的詩歌藝術代表著英語詩從傳統到現代過渡的縮影。

本詩的首句「Laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone」廣為流傳。這首詩里的對人生的看法，看似豁達開朗，卻又有種極其無奈的傷感。

本詩節選自莎士比亞喜劇《皆大歡喜（As you like it） 》，描述了被流放的公爵的女兒羅瑟琳到森林尋父和她的愛情故事。劇中受迫害的好人全都得到好報，惡人受到感化，有情人雙雙喜結良緣，一如劇名「皆大歡喜」。
按照林語堂對這首詩的點評，他認為人生就像一首詩，有其自己的韻律、拍子，以及自然周期。「它的開始就是天真爛漫的童年時期，接著便是粗拙的青春時期，粗拙地企圖去適應成熟的社會，具有青年的熱情和愚憨，理想和野心；後來達到一個活動很劇烈的成年時期，由經驗獲得利益，又由社會及人類天性上得到更多的經驗；到中年的時候，緊張才稍微減輕，性格圓熟了，像水果的成熟或好酒的醇熟那樣圓熟了，對於人生漸漸抱了一種較寬容，較玩世，同時也較慈和的態度；以後便到了衰老的時候，內分泌腺減少它們的活動，如果我們對老年有著一種真正的哲學觀念，而照這種觀念去調整我們的生活方式。那麼，這個時期在我們的心目中便是和平、穩定、閑逸和滿足的時期；最後，生命的火光閃滅了，一個人永遠長眠不再醒了。」
威廉·莎士比亞，英國文藝復興時期偉大的戲劇家和詩人，於1564年4月23日出生在英國中部斯特拉福德城一個富裕的市民家庭（逝世於1616年的生日）。後來家道中落，在倫敦當了演員和編劇，與社會各階層的生活有比較廣泛的接觸。
林語堂評價莎士比亞，說他最偉大的地方在於把人生當做人生看，而沒有按照自己的偏見去曲解世間萬物的存在方式，「他僅是活於世界上，觀察人生，而終於跑開了。」
譯者朱生豪（1912—1944），原名朱文森，中國浙江省嘉興人，曾就讀於杭州之江大學中國文學系和英文系。先後譯有莎劇31種。他是中國翻譯莎士比亞作品較早和最多的一人，譯文質量為國內外莎士比亞研究者所公認。

《如果我不曾見過太陽》，這是一首四行小詩，為美國著名女詩人艾米莉·狄金森所作。個人覺得這首小詩和元稹的「曾經滄海難為水，除卻巫山不是雲。取次花叢懶回顧，半緣修道半緣君」有異曲同工之妙。
提到美國詩人弗羅斯特，大家都知道他那首耳熟能詳的《未選擇的路》。不過我個人更喜歡他的另外一首詩，叫做《雪夜林畔小駐》。正好這兩天北國開始嘩嘩大雪，分享一下也許很應景：
